Flight Sergeant Kendal Brown writes a report on the recent New Recruits day that occured on Sunday 26th Feb 2012 at the unit:-
“After our major recruiting drive at the start of the year, No. 41 Squadron has a day at the unit dedicated solely to introducing the new cadets to the basic aspects of being a cadet, including drill, general rules, and how to take care of and prepare the RNZAF uniform that we wear.
It is a full day activity, but the lessons are interesting and very helpful. A few officers and NCOs will go along to staff the day, and teach the lessons. This is quite an important day for introductions to cadet life, especially with the uniform lessons where we demonstrate how to properly iron the shirts and trousers, and how to get the shoes nice and shiny. You also make friends with the other new cadets there, so it is not all about the lessons.
Overall, it is highly recommended that you go to the new recruits’ day, as it provides the foundation for what you will be learning and doing in the Air Training Corps.”
