Waitangi Day, Monday 6th February, saw the annual Festival of Elements return to Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua and this year the cadets turned out in force for another recruitment drive!
Originally we planned a single flight simulator for the event, based on the space we’d been allocated, but on arrival to setup we were told by the organisers we could spread out a bit so we took the opportunity to set up two simulators! It’s a good job we did as we had queues of potential pilots for most of the day, with some cadets commenting we could have done with 10 simulators to keep up with demand!
The photo slideshow of past squadron events (flying, gliding, shooting, parades and camps) kept many a passing adult entertained and with a crew distributing leaflets outside targeting 13-15yr olds as potential new recruits the day was a great success.
The squadron would like to say a huge thank you to the event organisers for such a great event and for allowing us the opportunity to recruit at the festival, and to Dobbins Office Furniture (Tawa) for once again loaning us their display boards we used during the day – they looked very professional.
