On Saturday 27th October a small contingent from 41 Squadron attended the Paremata School Gala, taking along the Squadron’s flight simulators and once again offering the chance to win a Radio Controlled Helicopter to any virtual pilots on the day.
By collecting a gold coin donation for each flight meant the unit were able to support the schools fundraiser for new playground equipment, whilst at the same time we were able to speak to Year 8 pupils with regards to potentially joining the unit to be able to fly a real helicopter or aeroplane.
Thanks go to Paremata School for allowing us to attend their event for the second time, to the Porirua RSA for the use of the RSA/Cadet van on the day to raise our profile (see photos) and to Tina Robinson, Stuart Robinson and Juliet Asbery for giving up their Saturday to help distribute recruitment leaflets and encouraging potential pilots to pop along to Room 7 where the simulators were set up.
Early indications are that the event raised over $25,000 – well done everyone!
