Sergeant Andie Thompson reports on the recent inbound International Air Cadet Exchange (“IACE”):
I recently hosted an IACE exchange cadet through the IACE exchange programme. IACE stands for International Air Cadet Exchange. Cadets from all over the world are selected to tour another country for two weeks. I hosted a young American girl named Danielle who was from Texas. She was a very pleasant person and was a pleasure to have around.
The cadets spent two days with us in Wellington and the host cadets accompanied them on a day of their touring. We first met them in Trentham military camp, where we had a meet and greet, followed by dinner. The cadets were then taken to their host home for the night.
We were all picked up in vans around 0800 the next morning and travelled to Weta Cave where we could look at the display products and watch a short movie on the origin of Weta. We moved then to the souvenir shop. After a short while we went back in the vans and travelled to Te Papa where we spent about four hours including lunch. Afterwards we went up to the top of Mt. Victoria to see the panoramic view of Wellington. We were all taken back to our houses to enjoy a family meal, the next day the cadets finished their touring and headed down to the south island to continue their New Zealand trip.
