Cadet Sanket Balia reports on the shoot held on 29 July 2012:
On the 29th of July 2012, several cadets turned up at the Royal Tiger Range at Newtown for Shooting. For all of us, this was our second time shooting. As I arrived at the Royal Tiger Range, I got assigned to help out Corporal Asbery in preparing the targets. Soon after the shooting order was written up on the board. I was in detail 3, i.e. the third group to go shooting.
We all waited and before we knew it, it was our details turn to shoot. I loaded up my first magazine properly but messed up my second one. But through the help of Corporal Fowler and the officers I was able to complete my first shoot, although it was a bit disappointing.
We all then waited for our second shoot and before we knew it, it was out details turn again. Although I again forgot how to place the rounds in to the magazine but with the help of Pilot Officer Brown I was able to correct it myself. My shooting results improved this time with the tips given to me.
And before I knew it I was in the list of top 6 shooters of the day. And then the top 6 shooters went for a final shoot. I was a bit nervous wondering how will I perform, will I be able to get good results like the more experienced shooters. The results came in and I was told that I did quite well. I top equal scored with U/O McLeod on 70.
