RNZAF Sponsored RNZAF Museum Trip

LAC Matthew Brooker reports on the recent RNZAF Sponsored RNZAF Museum Trip:

On Monday the 20th of January CPL Drummond, WO Fowler, UO Asbery, UO McLeod, PLTOFF Brown and me went on a day trip to Christchurch to visit the Royal New Zealand Air Force Museum. We flew down at 1015am on the Air Force Boeing 757. We went to the museum and were briefed and waited for our tour along with members of the other ATC squadrons from Wellington.

We got to look at the aircraft that were in the refurbishing hangers. There were about five or six planes that were being rebuilt or maintained. Once we had taken our photos of the planes we were taken to a display hanger where we got to go and look around some of the aircraft including a Bristol Freighter and an Andover. After we had finished flicking every possible switch in the aircraft we disembarked for the main hall where we were able to have a look around the static displays and have something to eat in the Cafe, then debriefed and back to the airport for the return flight to Wellington.

The day was short however we learnt heaps and enjoyed interacting with the aircraft.
