Exercise Bushcraft Report – LAC T Ngaro

On the 12th April a group of No. 41 Sqn cadets and officers packed their rucsacs for the weekend and stayed at TS Taupo for the night, where we completed a kit check and a few other admin tasks.  The following morning was misty and wet as we left TS Taupo in a variety of parents vehicles to head over to Fernside campsite near Featherston in the Wairarapa.

Here we setup camp and slept the night whilst completing a number of fun activities and exercises, including safe River Crossing, Fire Lighting, Setting up Bivvies and a number of fun night time games.

The following day (Sunday) began sunny and got warmer and warmer as the day progressed.  After a morning tramp up Torarunga for a couple of hours we broke down the camp and packed everything back into our transport for the trip back to TS Taupo.

Back at the unit we hung out the tents to dry in the classrooms before a quick de-brief on the good and bad points of the weeekend, after which we headed home.
