Flying 20 October 2012

Cadet Joseph Mijares reports on the Flying day held at Helipro Paraparaumu on 20 October 2012:

“When I was asked to write a short paragraph about my flying experience on the 20th of October, I wondered how I could explain such an amazing experience. That was my first time taking control of an airplane. So, I was a bit nervous. A hands-on experience about learning the 3 main controls of flying really helped my understanding of how airplanes fly. It makes me want to learn more about flying and become a pilot.

When we took off, the beautiful sunny weather made it a calm flight. Until my instructor did a nose dive, where I nearly had a heart-attack. Then, we flew around Kapiti Island and as far as Waikanae. The view looked so amazing from the sky on a perfect day. The sight is totally different compared to flying on big commercial airplanes because they fly so high, all you can see are clouds.

Finally, we touched down and ended this incredible flight. Overall, this experience was a highlight in my life. Afterwards, I realised that I flew a plane before I have even touched a driver’s wheel of a car.”
