Flying – Saturday 18th August

A number of cadets from No. 41 Squadron got to fly from Paraparaumu airport on Saturday the 18th August.

Cadet Hawinkels reports on his experience:-

“On August the 18th I was one of the lucky 11 to participate in the latest flying event.  This was my second time flying, having already flown once before meant that I felt a lot more confident in what I was about to do.  We were very fortunate to once again have perfect weather.  I was given permission from wellington airport to fly into Tawa, as far as South as Tawa College, so I was able to get some aerial photos of the suburb that I live in (tried to get my house, but I just missed it!).  The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about this flying event was that my plane ride was rather bumpy, which made me feel a litle airsick for the next few hours (don’t worry, I didn’t throw up!).  Overall the experience was great and I look forward to going again next time so that I can move on and maybe even get my private pilot’s licence.”
