Superclash – Monday 25th March

Report by Pilot Officer Asbery and Sergeant Jess Toohey:-

Once per term No. 41 Squadron has a “let your hair down” fun evening that is called Superclash!  This is basically a non-uniformed evening of games and fun, sometimes with a competitive element between the different flights within the unit.

This time the cadets arrived in either DPM’s (camouflage gear) or sports kit with a spare change of clothing “just in case!”  After the usual ensign raising parade and a short briefing, all the cadets were issued with a balloon to tie to their ankle.  Then it was outside and onto the adjoining rugby fields for a game of bullrush with a difference – each cadet’s balloon had to be burst for them to be ‘out’. The NCO’s were the team trying to burst the balloons, and at some point the NCO’s were armed with water balloons to add to the mayhem – hence the spare set of clothes!

Somewhere in amongst the smiles, fun, laughter, running and bouncing water balloons, Sergeant Toohey managed to sneak up behind Pilot Officer Tasker with a half full bucket of icy cold water that she put to good use down the officers back while he wasn’t looking!  Unfortunately for her the Officer used a bigger bucket (read small skip!) of water to exact his revenge!

As the light faded everyone filed back indoors for a change of clothes before it was into the classroom for a quiz.  Consisting of general knowledge, pop culture and ATC knowledge questions the quiz pitted Flight 1 against Flight 2. Flight 2 successfully beat Flight 1 at the Quiz by only 2 points! And will received a prize of a small chocolate bar each next week.

By the end of the night everyone was still smiling and much fun had been had – another successful Superclash passes into the annales of history!

Unfortunately no one remembered to bring a (waterproof!) camera, so there are no photos of Pilot Officer Taskers face as the cold water made its way down his back – maybe next time!
