A huge “well done” goes to all the cadets who assisted and it was a great opportunity to show Scott what the cadets get up to when he was able to watch the cadets parade at the start of the evening.

The weather was better this time than last and with being a long weekend we had a very successful day, selling 375 sausages.

A big thanks to all involved and to Bunnings for providing the BBQ and gas.

Several Cadets now have a healthy amount of funds to put towards their upcoming flying and shooting activities.

A number of cadets volunteered to man the Bunnings Porirua community BBQ on Sunday 13th May to raise funds towards their unit activities.

After a quiet morning business picked up and peaked around lunchtime before dying off towards the end of the day. Being Mother’s Day, plus the rather poor weather probably didn’t help sales, but by the end of the day over 250 sausage sizzles had been cooked and sold.

A big thank you goes to all those who volunteered including those parents who helped too (some good teamwork was shown on the production line), plus Bunnings Porirua for giving the unit access to their BBQ with free gas!

Pictured:- 1) The 12noon – 2pm team, 2) Production line in operation – sausage & onion cooking, bread & serviette, sauces & finally the money taker on the far end = great teamwork!

The monthly ATC Association of NZ (ATCANZ) Squadron support committee (made up of cadet parents, caregivers and supporters) meeting took place on Monday 13th February.

Amongst other things the support committee apply for grants and administer the funding of the unit in order to free the officers up to do their day to day tasks and unfortunately the current committee chairman Graham Streatfield has had to step down due to his job being relocated out of the area.

We thank former Warrant Officer and current assistant training staff member (and Porirua City Councilor) Bronwyn Kropp for standing in as Chair temporarily until next months AGM when the committee will be looking for a permanent replacement. If you can help or would like to get involved in any way please contact the Squadron or come along to the next meeting.

The meeting minutes from February have been emailed out to everyone on the squadrons email list, if you didn’t get a copy please contact the unit and we’ll rectify this. The next meeting will be the AGM at 7pm on Monday 12th of March at TS Taupo.

Below is the Unit Commanders report from the meeting:-
